Partnership at Winthrop to Honor Educational Luminaries

The Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership at Winthrop, first established in 2010, will be named The James and Susan Rex Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership. The newly named institute honors Jim Rex, former dean of education at Winthrop University as well as the former State Superintendent of Education for South Carolina, and Sue Smith-Rex, retired Winthrop University College of Education faculty and a member of the Winthrop University Board of Trustees.

Drs. Rex have spent their careers promoting and supporting education, and the newly named James and Susan Rex Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership honors their investment in education, most recently with a generous gift to support students, faculty and new initiatives in the Richard W. Riley College of Education at Winthrop University.

The James and Susan Rex Institute for Educational Renewal and Partnership is a service-oriented organization within Winthrop University's Richard W. Riley College of Education which serves, facilitates and supports faculty and College of Education initiatives that involve internal and external collaboration, partnership and outreach.

For more information on the Richard W. Riley College of Education at Winthrop University, or about making a gift in support of the Winthrop community, contact the Office of Development at 803/323-2150.
