It’s Not Too Late to Nominate an Alum for an Alumni Award

Do you know an alum who demonstrates Winthrop’s commitment to excellence? Tell us about this alum and why he/she deserves to be the recipient of the Alumni Professional Achievement Award, the Alumni Distinguished Service Award or the Outstanding Young Alumni Award.

The deadline for Alumni Award nominations has been extended to Aug. 19, 2011.

The Alumni Awards will be presented during the Alumni Awards Brunch, held during the Nov. 11-12 Homecoming and Alumni Reunion weekend.

Nominations are currently being accepted for the following awards (listed below with their criteria). Nomination forms may be submitted online or via mail.

Alumni Professional Achievement Award - This award is presented to an alum who has made significant contributions to his/her professional field while exemplifying high moral and business ethics. A nominee's documentation should indicate involvement in and advancement of his/her chosen profession or field endeavor. The recipient shall be a dedicated alumna/us who supports the growth and development of Winthrop University and exemplifies an outstanding code of ethics, as well as the overall quality concept by which Winthrop University is governed.

Alumni Distinguished Service Award - This award is presented annually to an alum who has made significant contributions to the quality of life in his/her community, to the development of overall values and morals within others, and shall be an outstanding citizen in his/her own right. Distinguished service may have been rendered with one's profession, church, charity, family and school on a national, state or local level. Recipient shall be a dedicated alumna/us who supports the growth and development of Winthrop University through his/her service to and/or support of programs and objectives established by the university.

Outstanding Young Alumni Award - This award is presented to an alum who is aged 35 or younger. The award shall recognize a former Winthrop student whose service to the university, service to the community and professional achievements have reflected positively on all alumni and the university.
