<< BackMedal of Honor in the Arts Tickets Available to General Public
Tickets are now available to the general public for Winthrop University’s ninth Medal of Honor in the Arts Celebration. This year’s event will award David Bancroft Johnson (posthumously), Joanne Lunt, Hazel and Murray Somerville and Alf Ward for the contributions to the arts.
The event will be held on April 1, in Johnson Theatre. The awards and performances portion of the evening begins at 8 p.m., with a celebratory reception immediately following. Tickets are $25 per person and $40 per couple. Click here to register.
The proceeds of any gifts and ticket sales go to the Medal of Honor in the Arts Scholarship, which supports talented students who have an interest in pursuing careers in the visual arts, dance, music, or theatre at Winthrop University. The year’s student recipient is recognized as part of the evening’s events.
The Winthrop University Medal of Honor in the Arts acknowledges and recognizes the unique roles of individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to the arts, as well as those who have positively impacted the quality of the cultural life in communities across the Carolinas. First established in 2001, the event is not limited to a single arts discipline or area or artistic endeavor. This award honors those who have encouraged the arts and offered inspiration to others either through their distinguished achievements, artistic excellence, support, and patronage.
