The College of Education at Winthrop University prepares professionals who are committed to the betterment of society through a lifelong quest for excellence in leadership, stewardship, collaboration, and innovation. The College of Education accomplishes its mission by preparing educators to work in P-12 schools and school districts as well as professionals in sport and human performance fields. Bachelor degree programs are offered in various teaching fields, including Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, Middle Level Education, Special Education, and Physical Education. The College also offers B.S. programs in Athletic Training, Exercise Science, Sport Management, and a Master's degree in Sport and Fitness Administration. For those who already hold a bachelors degree and desire to become licensed to teach, the College of Education offers a Master of Arts in Teaching program, as well as advanced Master of Education programs in Counseling and Development, Curriculum and Instruction (including an Educational Technology track), Educational Leadership, Middle Level Education, Literacy, and Special Education.
Throughout these programs, students have the opportunity to work in schools and other field-based settings so they can apply what they learn. The College collaborates closely with its school and community partners to ensure relevant, challenging, and innovative programs.
