Department of Political Science

Irrespective of their academic focus or career goals, Winthrop University Political Science students learn to analyze political phenomena across a wide range of contexts. Courses and projects prepare students for active citizenship and professional careers in teaching, government, international affairs, business and non-governmental organizations, and advanced studies in law, public administration, political science and other fields. The department is also home to Winthrop University's renowned Model UN program, an award-winning chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the Political Science National Honors Society; and the Social and Behavioral Research Laboratory.
