Growing our Legacy through Endowments

“Our challenge – and our responsibility – is to meet the demands of the present while we enable the future of the University.”  – President Anthony J. DiGiorgio

Students by Eagle statueThe state and national trends are clear: government cannot support public higher education at past levels, and families cannot bear the full costs being passed on to them. This is a time when we must clearly demonstrate superior stewardship of our students, our faculty, our facilities, and our finances. The only way to keep our promise of quality and opportunity for today’s students and future generations is through philanthropic investment. With your investment in the Winthrop Foundation Endowment, we will consistently:

  • Challenge and support a diverse, socially responsible and high-achieving student body.
  • Attract, develop, and retain faculty who place student learning and development at the center of all they do.
  • Provide distinctive and transformative educational opportunities.

Winthrop University continues its commitments to innovation and to high standards. We do what we do at an exemplary level or we simply will not do it. The cliché, however, holds true: doing things well takes focus, discipline and resources.

Endowments exemplify the difference between good schools and GREAT schools.

Revenue from our endowment - through both deferred and outright gifts - is a critical source of scholarship aid, faculty support, and program improvement. Given the increasing economic pressures on both state funding and tuition revenue, now more than ever the endowment is truly the margin of excellence.

You can ensure that the Legacy of the Winthrop Experience is provided for to generations of students to come by endowing a scholarship, fellowship or faculty fund.
