As the Associate Vice President of University Development and Alumni Relations, Debbie manages a staff responsible for the development, implementation, leadership, and evaluation of a comprehensive alumni relations program for 50,000+ alumni. She serves as the principle liaison between Winthrop and its alumni as Executive Director for the Winthrop University Alumni Association, managing an 18-member executive board. She also serves as a member of the Winthrop University Foundation Board.
In addition to serving on numerous campus committees, Debbie is a co-facilitator of Emerging Leaders, a leadership program for freshmen. She also serves as a faculty mentor on the “Learning for Life” floors in several residence halls and serves on the Baptist Campus Ministry Advisory Committee.
Not only is Debbie active on Winthrop’s campus, she is also highly involved in her professional affiliations. She served as the co-chair for Alumni Track for Region III 2009 Conference for the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), and serves as vice president on the board for the South Carolina Association of Alumni Directors (SCAAD). Her community activities include representing Winthrop as a member of the ChristmasVille Board of Governors and serving on the hospitality committee for Forest Hill Church.
Since joining Winthrop in 1996, Debbie has worked in Career Services and as the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations. Previously, she practiced social work in long-term and therapeutic foster care settings.
