Family Day 2013 Parents’ Day, a tradition begun by President Phelps in 1936, was renewed in 2007 to become Family Day, a fun-filled, engaging and educational time for students and their families. Lighting of the Christmas Tree The Student Alumni Council, a student group devoted to upholding and promoting Winthrop traditions, will host the annual Christmas tree lighting on the front lawn of Tillman Hall. The Winthrop tree, lit each year since 1935, will be illuminated from Dec. 6 - Jan. 3.
